Lyon Town Hall

A remarkable monument in Lyon.
The Lyon Town Hall was built in the mid 17th century by architects Simon Maupin and Jules Hardouin-Mansart. It is opposite the Opera House and over looks the place des Terreaux. It was destroyed by fire several times and is now one of the most remarkable buildings in Lyon.
The building surrounds two courtyards, one of which is higher, and has four angle pavilions, with a belfry which circles the court of honour. The richly decorated interior has made it a model of interior decoration.
The Lyon Town hall now hosts the municipal council several times a year.
